Use Case Challenge

CHALLENGE

The United States Air Force (USAF) has a complex supply chain to equip and repair forward-deployed forces.
Long value chains are among the biggest security issue in manufacturing for Industry 4.0. This is the case for all manufacturing, but it is especially critical in military applications, where hostile entities would attempt to obtain or modify critical data.

Use Case Solution

SOLUTION

The USAF has a couple main goals it is trying to achieve with blockchain:

  • Make its data more tamper-proof
  • Secret 3D printing plans transmission

To close security loopholes, the Air Force launched the Blockchain Approach for Supply Chain Additive Manufacturing Parts (BASECAMP) project to coordinate distributed manufacturing in the battlefield.

Use Case Results

RESULTS

SIMBA uses Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform which delivers trust and reliability, critical factors when providing battlefield support. SIMBA Chain will be used to register and track additive manufacturing components during their entire lifecycle.
