How Blockchain Is Redefining Military Logistics and Global Supply Integrity
The U.S. Army Reserve Innovation Command (USARIC), in collaboration with SIMBA Chain, AKUA Inc., the Defense Logistics Agency, Army Materiel Command, and Air Force Research Laboratory, launched a pilot project to prove how blockchain and IoT can modernize military logistics. By integrating AKUA’s smart tags with SIMBA Chain’s blockchain, the team created a secure “digital thread” tracking over 600 tons of equipment with real-time verification and tamper-proof records—achieving better results than traditional systems used over the previous 31 months.
The initiative marks a strategic shift toward treating blockchain as digital infrastructure for national resilience, transforming fragmented logistics data into a trusted, shared network. For the Department of Defense, it enhances visibility, auditability, and readiness for future automation through asset tokenization and smart contracts.
